Abstract

1340725 Door hold-open device BLOXWICH LOCK & STAMPING CO Ltd 23 Aug 1972 [15 Oct 1971 4 Nov 1971] 47985/71 51240/71 and 47985/71 Heading E2F A door hold-open device comprises a first part 1 for attachment to a door and supporting a bar 13, and a second part 2 for attachment to a door frame having a portion 17 which engages the bar and resiliently bends it as the door is moved; the bar being bent as the door begins to open and urging the door toward an open position once an overcentre position is passed. In the arrangement shown, the device is in the form of an automobile door hinge with the two parts pivoted about pin 3 and a cam 17 acting on a roller 21 arranged on a central section of the bar 13. In a further embodiment of the device when used as a hinge (Figs. 4-6, not shown) a single bar (10) is bent to substantially J- shape; the longer limb serving as a pivot pin, and the shorter being engaged by a cam. The cam includes two recesses which serve to maintain the door in two intermediate open positions. The device need not be in the form of a hinge and the two parts 1, 2 can be attached, without pivot pin 13 to an independently hinged door and door frame to function as a stay.
