Abstract

1472457 Hold-open hinges NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 21 June 1974 [25 June 1973] 27630/74 Heading E2F A hinge for mounting a vehicle door so that it can be held in closed, half-open, and fully open positions comprises bodyside and door side brackets 62, 68, a hinge pin 94 which allows pivotal movement between the brackets 62, 68, a cam member 112 mounted on the hinge pin secured for movement with bracket 68, and having three detents 114a, b, c, and a torsion spring 110 one end of which is secured to the bracket 62 and the other end 110b of which engages the cam member. As shown a serrated end portion 96 of the hinge pin engages in a serrated aperture 90 in bracket 68 to cause the pin to move with that bracket, but in a further embodiment (Fig. 8, not shown) the cam member is fast with the hinge pin and carries a locating pin which engages in a hole adjacent the hole 90. Alternatively (Fig. 9 not shown) the hinge pin is rotatable in the cam member which has a locating pin to engage a hole in the bracket.
