Abstract

878,952. Door stops. WILMOT-BREEDEN Ltd. June 26, 1959 [July 11, 1958], No. 22276/58. Class 65(1). A device for preventing rattling and sagging of vehicle doors when in the closed position, comprises, as shown in the sectional plan view Fig. 2, a housing 4 mounted on the door post 5 adjacent the free edge 6 of the door and having an opening at one end, and within the housing, a longitudinally sliding wedge 10, spring urged, as by spring 11, towards the opening and a tapering limb member 13a mounted on the edge 6 of the door adapted, when the door is closed, to enter the housing between one side thereof and the wedge 10, preventing movement of the edge 6 parallel to the plane of the door and in a direction at right angles to the hinge axis of the door. The sides of the housing 4 restrict the vertical movement of the wedge which has a pair of spaced protuberances 10a for contact with the part 8 to limit lateral movement of the wedge. The housing with its contents and the member 13a may be interchanged.
