Abstract

1449994 Spring biassed concealed hinges MANUFACTURE VOSGIENNE DE MEUBLES ET SIEGES 16 May 1974 [16 May 1973] 21848/74 Heading E2F In a concealed furniture hinge of the type in which two connecting members extend between the elements attached to the furniture, one member is pivoted to both the elements and the other is an elastic member pivoted to one element and rigidly attached to the other. The embodiment shown in Fig. 1 employs a U-shaped member 15 pivoted at 11 and 13 and a leaf spring member bent around pivot 12 and rivetted at 14. The members extend between a recessed element 1 mounted on a piece of furniture and an element 2 adjustably mounted on a door. Element 2 and a fixing plate 3 are of inverted U-shape and element 2 can slide relative to plate 3; portion 18 engaging in slot 19, locking screw 8 locating in elongated slot 9 and adjusting screw 21 bearing against plate 3. In a modification the spring 16 can be formed integrally with the element 2. The embodiment of Figs. 3, 5 employs a link 65 and a coil spring 66 as connecting members. One end of the spring is pivoted at 62 the other end is either clamped to member 64 or is formed integrally with the member 64. Mounting plate 53 has a bent over upper portion which slidably engages the side walls of U-shaped element 52-preferably, as shown, in slideways formed in the side walls (also Figs. 5. 6 not shown). Alternatively guide portions can be formed on bent over portion of the plate 53 (Fig. 10, not shown). A bent-up strip portion 59 of the member 52 engages serrations 71, 72 on the plate 53 when mounting screw 55 is tightened, and a bent down portion 73 of the plate 53 allows passage of portion 59 during assembly but prevents disassembly unless unlocking screw 75 is used.
