Abstract

1,180,231. Vehicle sliding doors. A. C. CARS Ltd. 10 March, 1967 [8 Feb., 1966], No. 6415/66. Heading B7J. A door 9 is pivotably and slidably supported by a pair of brackets 8 and rollers 6, 7 from a rail 5 attached to an arm 4 bolted to the vehicle side below the vehicle floor. A recess 10 in the door houses a track 11 for a roller 12 on the end of an extending channel member 13 slidable in a guide 16 pivoted at 17. A plunger 21 with pad 22 is slidable in the member 13 and is secured thereto by a tension spring 20, and a pawl 25 pivoted to 13 is adapted to project and lock through a slot (15) in the member 13 when the plunger 21 moves outwardly, Fig. 3 (not shown). A cam 27 in the door recess engages 22 when the door reaches the end of its longitudinal movement, so that the plunger 21 is moved inwardly to cause the pin (23) to swing the pawl 25 about its pivot (26) and free the member 13 for inward sliding movement relative to the guide 16 when the door is pivoted about the rail 5 to a closing position.
