Abstract

1472900 Sliding doors VOLKSWAGENWERK AG 21 June 1974 [22 June 1973] 27580/74 Heading B7B In a vehicle sliding door which may be swung out of an opening and slid along a wall of a vehicle, a U-shaped frame 6 has first and second legs 7, 8, being respectively pivotally secured to the door and to a plastic roller carriage 9 having a roller 19 journalled therein which can roll along a rail 11 fixed to the vehicle, there being a lever 24 which may engage a collar 21 fixed to the second leg 8 to prevent pivoting of the frame 6 about carriage 9. A locking block 26 disengages the lever 24 from the collar 21 to allow pivoting of the door towards the "door-closed" position. The first leg 7 extends through eye portion 17, 18 of door part 15 and has a lever 16 hooked to a spring 13 which exerts a moment on the frame 6 to push the door out of the door opening. In the "door-closed" position the two-armed lever 23 engages locking block 26 secured to the vehicle wall and the lever is swung in a clockwise direction to the full line position, in Fig. 2 so that pawl element 24 is moved out of engagement with collar 21. A lateral cut-out 28 is provided in the -rail 11 into which the collar 21 extends when the door is closed and acts as a stop for the roller carriage.
