Abstract

1436850 Windows and doors GOTZ METALL BAU GmbH 1 Aug 1973 [7 Aug 1972] 36517/73 Heading E1J A window comprises a sash 1 having frame members connected by corner pieces 15, a peripheral flexible metal band 14 running in guides 13 in the members and in curved guides 18 in the corner pieces, and an actuating mechanism for moving the band peripherally to actuate a locking fitting. Locking fitting parts (32, 36 Figs. 3a-3c) are secured respectively to the main frame part (21) and band 14 and have projections engageable on displacement of the band. The main frame comprises parts (21, 22) connected by insulating material. Fitting parts (41, 45, Figs. 4a-4c) secured respectively to the lower main frame member and to band 14 have cams engageable to allow tilting of the sash on the lower member. A lower corner bearing (Figs. 5a-5c, not shown) is formed by fitting parts (47, 55) respectively fixed to the main frame and sash fitting (47) having a spherical headed bolt engageable in a cup (54) of part (55). An upper corner bearing (Figs. 6a-6d not shown) comprises parts (60, 65) respectively secured to main frame and sash, the parts (60) having a cylindrical bolt (61) which is lockable in a recess (70) of part (65) by a bar (68) connected to band 14. The bolt is so looked for pivoting of the sash at its side and released for pivoting at its bottom. Arm (64, Figs. 8a-8c) at the top of the window has a bolt (64a) movable in: a slot (80) of a guide member (75) fixed to the sash, the bolt being lockable by device (80c) attached to band 14 when the window is tilted open. A further device (Figs. 9a-9b not shown) at the top of the window comprises a member (82) fixed to the sash and guiding a rail (87) connected to band 14. A lever (89) is pivoted to member (82) and has a roller (92) engaging the main frame when the window is closed. When the window is opened lever (89) pivots and its end engages a cam (88) on rail (87) to ,prevent movement of rail (87). The actuating mechanism comprises a handle (Figs. 10a-10c, not shown) secured to the sash by bar (97) and having a tongue (99) projecting through a slot (100) in tensioning device (101) which has toothed parts secured to band 14.
