Abstract

The window has two separate opening casement, i.e. an inner and (7) an outer (8) one. These hinge into a single wooden frame and are connected by upper and lower links (14), to open and close together. One catch (13) locks the unit. The links can be disconnected t o enable each window to be opened separately for cleaning. Each link lever is cranked and is fixed to a pivot (15) on the inner face of the inner window casement the other end of each lever has a roller (16) running in a channel in the other window casement. This enables the gap to increase progressively as the double glazed unit is opened.
