Abstract

Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXV] In a horizontally pivoted ventilating window inner and outer capping strips 105 are movable by a handle, not shown (see Group XXV), from a first position, as shown in Fig. 3, in which they close the gaps between the sash 103 and adjacent window frame member 22, 23 and prevent movement of the sash through 180 degrees to a second position in which the sash is freed to pivot. As shown, each of the gaps between the frame side members 22, 23, formed as thecrossbars of an I-section mullion in a curtain walling construction, the outer one 22 being covered by a channel member 39 and the inner one 23 by a facing wooden member 37, and the pivoted double glazed sash 103 is spanned by a capping strip 105 having at one edge a flange 111 to contact with a sealing strip 115 or 116 on the side members 22, 23 respectively and at the other edge a sealing strip 112, 113, to contact with the sash. Each strip 105 has a web 117 terminating in a hinge member 119 which pivots on a nylon bush 120 on a pin 118 on a bracket 121 supported from the web 21 of the transom.
