688.097. Windows. PERSSON. E. S. June 14 1951 [June 16, 1950], No. 14161/51. Class 20(iii) A window containing at least one swing- able sash 3 and one slidable sash 2 mounted in a frame 1 is characterized in that the frame and the corresponding meeting corners of the sashes are rounded, the other corners of the sashes forming right angles. In Fig. 6, a sash 3 is hinged at each side to a jamb of the frame, a sliding sash 14 being accommodated between them. The hinged windows at one; or at each side, of a double glazed structure, Fig. 11, are mechanically coupled together to operate together, the space between the double glazing being used for venetian blinds &c. In each construction the axis of the hinges carrying the swingable sashes may be horizontally offset from the plane of the corresponding sliding sash, or sashes, Figs. 4, 8, so that the latter may slide behind the swingable sashes when these are in their fully closed position. Each sliding sash may be replaced by a number of sashes side by side, and a screening member 19, Fig. 8, may be accommodated in the grooves which carry the sliding sash.
