Abstract

832,882. Windows; glazing. RIHA, H. March 28, 1958, No. 10144/58. Class 20(3) The sash and frame members are hollow and opposing faces have an F-shaped profile as shown. One side of the frame member is closed by a channel piece 6 so as to form flanges 17 securing the frame in the surround. The ends of the sash member are bent to form a flange 5. The window pane 12 is retained in a member 13 bedded in and packed with putty which is located adjacent the flange 5 by a channel section 14. A second window frame 15 may be hinged on the window frame and illustrated in Fig. 4 is an alternative method of glazing in which the member 19 clips over the depending flange 18. The frame profile shown in Figs. 1 and 4 may be varied for wide frames by providing an additional rebate at the thin end of the profile. The frame is described as for casement windows, or windows pivoted about a central vertical or horizontal axis, in which case the sash and frame members are cut back on opposite sides of the pivotal axis while preserving the same profile so that pivoting can take place. Drain channels 9 for condensate water are provided.
