Abstract
412,345. Folding - sliding casement windows. CRITTALL MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., Manor Works, RICHARDSON, H. A., Winster, Clare Road, both in Braintree, Essex, and WALKER, F. P., 135, King Henry's Road, Hampstead, London. March 2, 1933, No. 6436. [Class 20 (iii).] A folding-sliding casement window of the kind comprising two pairs of sashes hinged together and each pair hinged to one side of frame and supported by guide rails and runners at the meeting edges has the guide rail 10 for the sash which overlaps on the inner side bent inwardly at 11 and extending past the end of the opposite rail 9 to facilitate the opening and closing of either sash. The end of the rail 9 is tapered and terminates short of the runner pivot 14 in the closed position to allow lateral play of the sash 2 in closing, the sash being shifted into closed position by engagement between the outer weather bar 18 of the opposite sash and the rounded end of the runner bracket 12. In the closed position, the runner brackets extend past each other and when the outer sash is closed first engage each other to shift this sash outwardly before the final closing movement. A skid 19 extends beyond the end of the rail 9 to support the runner 14 in the closed position.
