408,879. Sliding doors ; casement windows. ALDAM, E. H., Britannic Works, Haslemere Avenue, Wandsworth, London. Oct. 6, 1933, No. 27519. [Class 20 (iii).] A window, door, or the like comprises an end leaf or section b<2> hinged to the frame or jamb a, and one or more hinged-sliding sections each comprising two leaves b, b<1>, hinged together, these latter sections being neither hinged to adjacent sections nor to the frame a, so that they are free to be moved independently to any required position after the leaf b has been opened. In Figs. 1 and 2, metal-framed leaves are shown. The single hinged sliding section is guided in the outer fixed frame by wheels d running in an overhead track a<1>, and by the engagement of studs e in a channel a<2>. Draught-proof strips f are provided along the vertical meeting edge of the leaves b<1>, b<2>. In a modification, the frames are of wood and are rabbetted at their meeting edges to exclude draught. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 4, a plurality of hinged-sliding sections are mounted in the same fixed outer frame.
