Abstract

478,059. Gates. SNARE, E., and CASTON & CO., Ltd. July 11, 1936, No. 19263. [Class 45] A collapsable gate for use as a sliding fireresisting door of the kind comprising separable leaves joined to pickets which are interconnected by lazy-tongs is provided with wedge-shaped guide strips 4 on each leaf engaging recessed uprights 5 on the adjacent leaf. Bearing strips 7 are secured to the leaves at the base of the recesses to engage the guides which are concealed from the face of the door. Vertical filling-pieces 8 are secured to the free edges and inner faces of the door leaves to prevent separation when sliding. The edges of the leaves may interlock when the door is closed as described in Specification 447,696. The sliding engagement may be effected by rollers and grooved bars.
