Abstract

[Also in Division A4] The open front of a cabinet is closed by two horizontally sliding shutters carried by runners 12 on a rail 14. The shutters are formed from rigid plastic strips 4 each having integral pivot elements along both longitudinal edges which are slid endwise into interlocking engagement. Plates 7 overlap adjacent strips to keep their ends in alignment. Metal strips 33 abut one another and engage stops 35 and 49 in the middle of the cabinet. Their abutting faces have a lock and catch-plate, respectively. The rear longitudinal edges of the shutters have rigid tubular sealing strips (Fig. 8, not shown) to exclude dust. The top of a cabinet of sheet metal has a skirt 22 to conceal the suspension and, by means of a beading at its lower edge, co-operating with beading 24, to limit the lateral play of the shutters. The lower edges of the shutters run loosely in a channel shaped member at the foot of the cabinet. In another form (Fig. 10, not shown) two members of channel section, one with an integrally formed suspension rail, are preformed for attachment to an existing cabinet.
