Abstract

1,039,032. Pivotable windows. WILIAMS & WILLIAMS Ltd. Jan. 22, 1965 [Jan. 23, 1964; March 24, 1964], Nos. 3046/64 and 12432/64. Heading E1J. In a pivotable window in which the main and pivotable frames 1, 3 have flanges 1A, 3A parallel to the planes of the frames and the edges of which confront or are adjacent each other in the closed position of the movable frame, an intermediate member 4 is arranged to extend in the rear of and between said flanges and has a base part having projecting therefrom towards the flanges two spaced longitudinally extending ribs 5, 6, one of the ribs, e.g. 6 supporting on its edge the body portion 8 of a sealing strip in permanent engagement with one of the flanges, e.g. 3A and having a flexible tongue 9 laterally extending between the other rib 5 and flange 1A, when the movable frame is in its closed position. As shown in Fig. 2 the intermediate member 4 is secured to the movable frame 3. Fig. 3 (not shown) shows the member 4 fixed to the main frame 1 with the body 8 of the sealing strip on the rib 5 and the tongue 9 between the rib 6 and flange 3A. Fig. 4 (not shown) illustrates the arrangement of a reversible window in which the intermediate member 4 or weather bar is on the top half of the sash and bottom half of the main frame or vice versa. In a modification the two ribs 5, 6 may project from one edge of a web, forming a Y-section member secured at the foot of the web to the base.
