Abstract

641,419. Windows. BUGGE, C. VAN DER P., and FREUDENBERG, I. L. Dec. 24, 1946, No. 37853. Convention date- Jan. 9. [Class 20(iii)] The outer edge of one of the vertical side members of a sliding sash 9 or 10 is formed with a dovetail recess 8, extending along its whole height, in which engages a dovetail 7 formed on one leaf of a hinge 3 or 4. The other leaves of which are secured to and extend the full height of the stationary frame 2. The other vertical side member of each sash is provided with locking bolts 11 for releasably securing them to the stationary frame; when the bolts are released the sashes may be swung inwardly into the room about the pivot pins of the hinges 3, 4. The sashes are raised and lowered by chains 15 passing over pulleys and operated by a crank handle. The chains have lengths of metal bars 21, 26 inserted therein; these bars and the chains run in grooves 14 in the stationary frame. The bars 26 at the sides of the sashes adjacent the bolts 11 are releasably secured to the sashes by pins 27; those at the sides adjacent the hinges 3 and 4 are connected to the sashes by multiple hinges 22. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the subjectmatter of Specifications 652,599 and 654,937. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
