' To all whom it Wm-y concern:
7 Be it: known that I, Omvnu F; IVALLEN, l a citizen of the v Anaconda, in the county of Deerlodge and 6 State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Screen for Automobiles, of which the following is a specification.
The for the bodies of the closed type such as are used on automobiles and other. vehicles, and has for its principal object to provide a screen which may be quickly and easily installed, for instance, in the opening of the door which has a raisable glass panel therein; Another important object of the inven- 't'ion is to provide a screen of'this nature which. is ad ustable so as to fit diflerent size openin s in doors and the like.
v Another important object of the invention is to provide a screen structure nature including a 'frame having hinged sections anda pair of hinged screen panels removably mounted'therein.
A still further important object of the invention is to provide ascreenistructure of this nature which is exceedingly simple,-
strong, durable, one which is thoroughly efiicient and reliab'le'in use, easy'to manipulate, attractive in appearance, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and other objects in View Q as will appear as the description proceeds,
the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combina-.
.tion and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. In the -drawing: Figure l is a fragmentary side elevation of an automobile showingone of my screen structures mounted in the door thereof,.
screen structure,
tion taken substantially on the line3-3 of another enlarged detail secon the line 5-5 of Unit-ed States, residing at present invention relates to screens tending grooves in the opening or this Figure 2'.is an inside elevation of the Figure 3 .is a horizontallongitudinal sectogether as at 24.
held in place by tail section taken substantially on the line 7-7 of Figure 2.
. Referring to' the drawing in detail it will be seen that the frame is. formed .in two rectangular sections 5 and 6,th e adjacent' sides of which are outer face as is indicated at 7. 'The lower rails of the sections 5 and 6 are provided on their bottom edges with longitudinally ex- 8. The outer side rails of the sections 5 and 6 are provided'with longitudina-lly extending tenons 9; Similar tenons 10 extend longitudinally along the upper 5 and 6. When the window panels, movable of the door of the vehicle is 'lowered, the sections 5 and 6 may be swun in relation to each other so as to be dispose at an angle, at which time the-tenons may be engaged in the usual grooves in the sides 0% the opening in which the side edges of t e window panel slide, .and then the secto be disposed in the tlons may be swung The frame the other by the numeral 13. The upper and lower rails of these parts 12 and 13 are reduced as is indicated at 14 to overlap each other in sliding relation. One of these re-.
du-ced portions of the lower and upper pair is provided with a may be passedtherethrough and through an opening in the overlapping portion. loosening the nuts 17 on the bolts 16, the sections 12 and 13 may be moved. toward or away from each or lengthening the length of the frame.

It is desired to point out, however, that the pres ent embodiment of the invention has been i disclosed merely by way of example since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description. It will be apparent that numerous changes in the details of-construction, in the combination andarrangement of parts maybe resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages. I
, Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new is In a device of the class described, a pair of hingedly connected frame sections, one of said sections being adjustable, a pair of hingedly connected screen sections mounted in the frame sections, and means for detachably holding said screen sections in the frame sections, the sides of said frame section being provided with tenons. the tops of said frame sections being provided with tenons, and the bottom of said frame sections being provided with grooves.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
OLIVER F. WALLEN.
