515,791. Windows. MACKENZIE, K.' D., and MARCHBANK, J. June 7, 1938, No. 16806. [Class 20 (iii)] A window comprises two hinged sashes 2, Figs. 2 and 4, each of which is combined with one or more laterally-slidable sashes 4 adapted to be slidden in front of, or behind, the sashes 2 and swung outwardly therewith as shown in Fig. 4. The sashes 2 are fixed to hinged frames, which comprise a stile 8 and top and bottom horizontal bars 5. These frames and the window frame 1, 1<1>, are of channel-section, as shown in vertical section in Fig. 5, the channels being opposed and the walls thereof of unequal depth, to permit the outward swinging of the bars 5. The sliding sashes are guided by rails 7 arranged in part on sill and head bars 6, Fig. 9, on the window frame and in part on the bars 5; and their outward sliding is limited by tongues 19 which engage fixed weathering blocks 20, and by cushions or pads on the vertical outer edges of the sashes 2. The meeting edges of the panels 4 may be provided with overlapping weathering bars, and their lower edges with weather covers 14.
