Abstract

1275462 Horizontally sliding windows and doors ARCHITAL LUXFER Ltd 1 June 1970 [3 April 1969] 17436/69 Heading E1J In a horizontally sliding window or door with inner and outer sliding panels 10, 11, the main frame comprises a sill formed with two lateral supporting flanges 13, 14 for the two panels, the flanges 13, 14 being offset vertically and horizontally relative to one another with the outer flange 13 below the upper flange 14, with a downwardly depending guide flange 20 attached to the flange 14, and the outer panel 19 is provided with a channel shaped portion 22 which projects inwardly below the flange 20 to engage the inner face of the flange 20. Similarly the inner panel 26 is provided with an inverted channel 28 to engage with a vertical guide flange 27 on an upstanding flange 12 of the sill. This construction of sill presents no upwardly facing grooves exposed to the weather or to the collection of dirt or dust from inside the windows. Sealing strips cooperate with the flanges 20, 27 as shown.
