Abstract

488,995. Windows. ESSMANN, K. F. T. A., and HART, E. E. Jan. 15, 1937, No. 1201. [Class 20 (iii)] Multi-light windows are formed as units each comprising a wooden frame having styles provided with exterior vertical grooves to receive fixing-strips, the head and sill members having exterior longitudinal rebates to co-operate with complementary rebates on a head, transom, or sill proper. The drawings show a window comprising pairs of hinged fanlights 1, 3 and casements 2, 4. The styles are formed with rebates 5 to receive keying-strips 6 embedded in plaster reveals 8, and similar strips 7 at the junction of the window units. The head and sill members 9, 10 are formed with rebates 11 which mate with corresponding rebates in the head-piece 12, transom 13, and sill 14. The sashes are formed with weather grooves 20 arranged over sloping faces 24 on the sill members 10. The bottom rails 22, 23 overhang the members 10 as shown.
