768,499. Window and door frames. SOC. ANON. POUR L'lNDSTRIE DE L'ALUMINIUM. April 7, 1955 [April 10, 1954; March 24, 1955], No. 10291/55. Classes 20(3) and 20(4) Window, or door, frame elements consisting of two light metal, extruded elements, are connected by a plastic, non- heat conducting layer of synthetic resin. Fig. 1 shows a frame 1, 2 of Z-section and having a plastic inter-layer 3, andaccommodating two panes 4, a bead 5, and a putty filler 6. The elements 1, 2 may be joined e.g. by tongue and groove, or dovetail arrangements, the plastic layer, made e.g. of condensation- or polymerizationresins, extending over the whole width of the web of the frame element and being joined to the metal either by its own adherence, or by means of an adhesive, or if possible, by means of pressing. In an alternative arrangement a plastic rod is pressed into corresponding grooves in the elements 1. 2. In the arrangement according to Fig. 7, showing fixed and moving frames, the plastic inter-layer 3 for the moving frame, serves also as a draught secluding packing. In a modification Fig. 9, flanges 10 which form the walls of the grooves 9 project outwardly so that after the plastic rod 3 has been introduced into the grooves, the flanges 10 can be pressed inward to lie flush with the sides of the rod 3, the frame elements may also be used in the construction of walls which consist of a metal frame and panels of veneer, or the like.
