Abstract
488,174. Sliding doors. EDUCATIONAL SUPPLY ASSOCIATION, Ltd., and LEONARD, J. W. Feb. 4, 1938, No. 3617. [Class 20 (iii)] Sliding doors are supported on resilient rollers and guided by separate members engaging a rail or channel in the floor. The invention is stated to be particularly applicable, and is shown applied, to doors of the kind described in Specification 5828/13, [Class 20 (iii)], comprising pairs of leaves 1 hinged together and to fixed and sliding uprights 2, 3 respectively. The slides 3 are fitted with bottom rollers having rubber treads 13 bearing on the sill 8, and fibre guide-members 20, 21 engaging a bronze channel 10 recessed into the sill. At the top, the slides 3 are fitted with rubbersurfaced rollers 4 guided in a steel channel 9 fitted between the beams 5, 6. To prevent slamming in opening or closing, rubber buffers 23, 24, and a wood tongue 25 co-operating with a rubber insert 27, are fitted to the leaves and slides as shown in section in Fig. 2.
