[Also in Group XIV] Sliding doors for cabinets, wardrobes, &c. have a pivotally mounted switchplate 9 on a horizontal portion of the opening with end studs 13 adapted to shift the contiguous edges of two adjacent doors 2, 3, from flush to offset relation and vice versa. As shown, the doors have hangers 5 with rollers 6 set in rebates at the upper corners and a track system 7 on the underside of the lintel comprises four sections leading from a common flat centre portion 7e with one pair diverging slightly to the left and the other to the right. With the doors closed the hangers at the inner contiguous edges are supported by the switch plate studs 13 which engage slots 14 in their upper parts. A similar switch plate 15 on the floor has studs 18 which engage grooves in the bottom edge of the doors. Pressure on one door rocks the switch plates and brings the door.edges clear of each other Door 3 may then be moved to .the left so that its forward roller engages track 7a and the door may be pushed behind door 2. The doors may be removed by moving e.g. door 2 in the position of Fig. 4, to the right until its left hand roller reaches the central flat portion of the track whereupon the door may be lifted free. In an embodiment for light doors running in grooves or on half round tracks at the top and bottom of the opening, short..bearers are secured to a, switch plate by studs moving in slots of an attaching plate and serving to support the door rollers near the contiguous edges.
