Abstract

711,315. Doors. CLARKE ELLARD ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and ELLARD, W. G. June 8, 1953 [June 6, 1952], No. 14336/52. Class 20 (3) In sliding and folding doors or partitions with .leaves 1, 2, 3 shown in Fig. 5 in four different positions, the transfer between positions A' and A' is effected by rotating the folded door about the hinge 4, the door being supported by a trolley 10 housed temporarily in a section 7 of the track 11, mounted on a bracket hinged at 9. When the section 7 is aligned with the track 12 (in position A<SP>1</SP>) the trolley and door may be moved into position B'. The door may have two or more leaves and the trolley 10 may support the door pivotally either at a hinge axis or at a middle axis of a door. The number of trolleys may be increased as necessary. Door bolts may be provided on one or more leaves to engage the floor or a door frame member and the tracks 11, 12 may be on the floor. The hinges 4 may be omitted or made detachable and two or more turning points with sections 7 may be connected by a common track or tracks, each turning point having any number of tracks, 11, 12. The outer end of the section 7 is supported by a roller 13 running on an arcuate guard plate 14 which prevents the trolley from emerging from the section 7 except when it is aligned with a track. A spring catch may be provided to retain the section 7 aligned with a track.
