[Class 45] [Also in Group X] A collapsable door or partition comprises a series of pairs of intersecting plates 41, 50, Fig. 1, the plates of each pair being centrally pivoted together on a pin 58 and each end of each plate being pivoted by pins 59, 60 to a plate of an adjacent pair, while the outermost pairs of the series are connected respectively to a stationary post 14 and a movable post 24, so that the whole forms an extensible and collapsable lazy-tongs system. More than one series of pairs of plates may be provided, the series being spaced one below another with their central pivot pins 58 in alignment, and the whole system may be supported by connecting the movable post and one or more of the hinge pins to wheeled trolleys 27, Fig. 3, running on a track 13. The plates 41, 50 of each pair are respectively of the shapes shown in Figs. 6 and 8, each plate 41 being provided with an aperture 44 to enable the associated plate 50 to be assembled therewith. The central pivot pins 58 are received in oppositely-directed, semicylindrical bearings 46, 55 in the plates, while the end pivot pins 59, 60 are received in cylindrical bearings 43, 57. On each side of its central pivot pin, each plate of each pair is bent, as shown in Fig. 1, to limit the closing movement and thus protect fabric coverings 16, 17 from injury. The plates at each end of each series are of half the length of plates of other pairs.
