Abstract
888,870. Sliding doors. BODE, E. March 10, 1960, No. 7689/61. Divided out of 888,869. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXXII] An outside sliding door 1, Fig. 1, particularly for a vehicle, which is also swingable into and out of the doorway, is pivotally connected by bearings 21, 22 to a pin 3 carried by a swinging arm 2 having a sleeve 6<SP>1</SP> pivoted to a pin 6 supported by a plate 4, Fig. 3, carrying rollers 5 engaging a rail 9 secured, e.g. to the outer side of the vehicle body. A roller 7 is provided on the pin 3 and engages the surface of a door post 8, which roller after the initial opening movement of the door out of the doorway, runs along the outside of the rail 9. The swinging arm 2, in the form of a casing covering the rollers, is pivoted to the door in the middle of one upright edge thereof. The upper rear edge of the door 1 has a roller 17 engaging a suitably curved and fixed rail 18, whilst the lower part of the door has an inverted channel rail 13 fixed thereto and engaged by a roller on an arm fixed to the door post, as described with reference to Fig. 4 (not shown). In a modification a rail on the lower part of the door is engaged by rollers on an arm pivoted to the door post, as described with reference to Fig. 8 (not shown).
