A "drop-leaf" hinge comprises a first block 30, in the form of a disc segment, securable to a movable member and a second block 12, in the form of a disc segment, securable to a stationary member, the blocks being hingedly interconnected by means of a straight sliding crank 15 journalled to the first block and freely slidable in a guide slot 14 in the second block, and by means of two angle levers 16, 17 journalled in the blocks parallel to one another one on each side of, and clearing, the orank so that, both in an open position and in a closed position, the movable member is supported on the end face of the stationary member. As shown, the two recessed blocks 12 and 30 are provided in the compartment 10 and drop-leaf 11 respectively and secured by screws 13 and 31, and the crank 15 is connected in a central recess 32 of block 30 by means of an axle 33 and angle levers 16 and 17 conected by a continuous axle 18 to block 12 and by axles 19 and 20 to block 30. The sliding crank may 'be arranged in the central region, or in a lateral region, of the hinge. When the drop-leaf is closed (Fig. 1), the axles 18, 19 and 20 and the axle 33 preferably assume a position relative to one another in the relationship of an isosceles triangle, the hypotenuse extending between axles 19 and 33, or an equilateral triangle in a plane at right angles to the axes of the said axles. The block 12 may comprise two superposed parts or alternatively it. may be in the form of an integral workpiece. The blocks may be made of plastics and the sliding crank and angle levers of metal.
