947,287. Hinges. V. B. K. RASMUSSEN, [trading as V. KANN RASMUSSEN & CO.]. Nov. 13, 1962 [Nov. 25, 1961], No. 42872/62. Heading E2F. A friction hinge comprises two bowl segments 4 for mounting on the sash and frame, respectively, of a window, the edges 5 of which form sliding rails, and an intermediate part 6 having guides 10 to receive the rails, the guides being formed by the edges of bowl segments 7, 8 which can be mutually displaced to adjust the width of the guides. The part 6 comprises two outer bowl segments 7 secured together by rivets 11, and two inner bowl segments 8 which are pivoted to the outer bowl segments at opposite ends of the part on respective pivot pins 12, 12<SP>1</SP> and each of which has an elongated opening 21 surrounding the head 13 of the pivot of the other segment. The inner segments 8 are adjusted relative to the outer segments 7 by means of an eccentric 14 having trunnions 16 journalled in circular apertures in the inner segments and a cam 17 engaging an elongated opening 18 in the outer segments, rotation of this eccentric causing the inner segments to pivot about their respective pivot pins. The pins 12, 12<SP>1</SP> are preferably hollow rivets containing stops 19 adapted to engage corresponding stops 20 on the bowl segments 4 or their attachment plates 1, 2 to restrict the movement of the hinge.
