1301703 Sliding door suspension E BODE 17 March 1970 [28 March 1969] 12854/70 Headings B7B and B7J In a vehicle sliding door assembly, the door 1 is supported at its upper edge by two arms 13b, each arm bearing a roller with a horizontal axis of rotation 15, 16 and, mounted above, a roller with a vertical axis of rotation 18, 19, the rollers 18, 19 being received in guide rails 26, 27 mounted in a box 20 fixed to the vehicle, the lower surface 28 of which supports the rollers 15, 16; the door is further supported by a pivot arm 4, hinged at 7 to the vehicle and having rollers 10, 11 with vertical axes of rotation, the rollers 10, 11 being carried in a curved box rail 8 mounted on the vehicle door, the arrangement being such that the door may be pivoted outwardly of the vehicle during the sliding operation. When the door is in its closed position, the rollers 10 lie in the curved portion 12 of the rail 8 and a guide member 34 serves to locate and maintain the door in position.
