Abstract

1327694 Vehicle doors; (vehicle doors) E BODE [trading as BODE & CO Gebr] 3 Sept 1971 [4 Sept 1970] 41213/71 Headings B7B and B7J A motor vehicle slidable door arrangement comprises a support frame 4 carrying a carriage 3 having a roller which rolls on a rail 2 carried by a door 1, the rail having an end portion 2a deviating by an angle of substantially 45 degrees from the line of the main portion of the rail which is mounted on that side of the door which faces a wall to which the support frame 4 is attached, and the arrangement being such that in the closed position of the door the roller lies on the end portion 2a of the rail. In a preferred embodiment the rail 2 having a C-shaped cross-section penetrates an opening in the surface of the door 1 which opening is covered by a cap member 7. The carriage 3 carrying two rollers is mounted to swivel by means of stub shafts 5a, 5b, in support frame 4 which is attached to a carrier rail 10 secured in the frame 11 around the door. As shown in Fig. 4 the C- shaped rail 2 retains the rollers between its top and bottom bent over portions. For support during movement towards its open position the door 1 has on its inner wall a carrier roller 12, Fig. 6, which is mounted in a bearing support 14 and after swinging out of the door from the closed position runs along a further rail 13 attached on the outside of the vehicle body. The door is further supported at its upper and lower edges by rollers having a vertical axis of rotation.
