Abstract

1373149 Bottom discharge hopper ROTAQUE (PTY) Ltd 6 June 1972 [9 June 1971] 26349/72 Heading B8S A bottom discharge hopper comprising a container body mounted on a horizontal frame has an opening in the bottom closed by doors with concave-curved inwardly directed faces pivotally suspended about a common horizontal axis and means extending outwardly from the doors to engage with fixed means to control the opening movement of the doors. In the Figs. a hopper car 14 running on rails 30 has doors 22 pivoting about axis 18. Each door has mounted on it a bracket 24 supporting a roller 26. Ramps 28 fixed by the side of the path of the hopper can guide rollers 26 upwards to open the doors at a desired position to discharge the hopper. The ramps may continue beyond the point of discharge to guide the rollers down again and close the doors, or the rollers may close the doors by descending by gravity.-
