Abstract

1291892 Upwardly opening door OVERHEAD DOOR CORP 22 April 1970 [16 May 1969] 19340/70. Heading EIJ An upwardly opening one-piece door 11 carries at the upper and lower ends of its side edges upper and lower pairs of coaxial rollers 49 and 58 for engagement in tracks mounted adjacent an opening 17 in a wall 18 closed by the door 11 when in its upright closed position, the lower rollers 58 engaging in a pair of spaced parallel upright tracks 24 extending along opposite side edges of the opening 17 and having lower end portions 29 curved towards the opening, and the upper rollers 49 engaging in a pair of spaced parallel tracks 33 extending away from opposite ends of the upper edge of the opening and having similar curved end portions 42. As shown, the upper tracks 33 are horizontal, but they may alternatively be almost vertical. The curved ends 29, 42 of the tracks 24, 33 provide a final closing movement of the door 11 downwardly and towards the opening 17 to compress a resilient sealing strip 20, 22 extending around all edges of the door, and to prevent jamming of the door in the closed position. The door is provided with spring-biassed pulley counterbalance means 13 connected to the door by cables and mounted above the opening 17 on a shaft 67 which is driven by the dooroperating mechanism 14.
