Abstract

A sliding door for a goods vehicle has rollers at the top which travel in inverted U shaped guides mounted near the roof, along the door opening. The guides curve inwards at the front end of the vehicle, so that before the door is pulled back, the guides steer it also in an outwards direction so that it can be moved clear of the door post for its rearward movement. At the bottom of the door are further rollers which also travel in guides, and under the door is mounted a swinging arm carrying rollers. The arm supports part of the weight of the door and supports it while controlling its movement when the door is swung out ready for opening. This arm has a roller at the end opposite its pivot point, and carries two short arms which extend sideways, carrying two further rollers.
