Abstract

719,310. Embossing and marking machines. MASSON SEELEY & CO., Ltd. Sept. 15,1952 [Sept. 13, 1951], No. 21558/51. Class 100 (2). Embossing - machines.- A work - supporting table 4 for a pressing, marking or like machine is hinged at 5 to a bracket 6 secured to the frame 1 of the machine. The table is supported in the horizontal position shown by links 7, 9 pivoted together at 8 and connected to the table and the base 3 respectively. Also pivoted at 8 is a yoke 14 fixed to a piston-rod 12 actuable by a pneumatic double-acting ram 13 pivoted at 15 to a fixed frame. The ram 13 is controlled by a valve which, in turn, is controlled by a pair of exhaust valves, the arrangement being such that the opening of either exhaust valve operates the main control valve to apply air pressure to one side of the ram piston or the other. One exhaust valve 21 is mounted so that its operating-pin 23 is presented towards the link 9 so that when the table is swung into the work-discharging position, by the extension of piston-rod 12, the valve 21 is operated to cause the control valve to apply pressure to the upper (or righthand) side of the ram piston to return the table to the work-supporting position. The valve causing the table to swing to the discharging position is mounted so that it is operated by the head portion 2 of the press as it rises from its lowermost position. Alternatively the control for the table may be effected by a foot pedal. The machine may be used to mark stockings, a pile of stockings being mounted on a table 16 and parts thereof being turned over on to the table 4 one at a time. When the table swings down to work-discharging position that part of the stocking resting on the table slides off into a trough 18. A lower table 17 may be associated with a conveyer.
