Abstract

1,197,156. Embossing. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 1 April, 1969 [18 Oct., 1968], No. 17064/69. Heading B6J. A machine suitable for embossing heated micro-porous sheet material comprises an electroplated embossing-plate 3 secured to a heating plate 2, and a movable platen 19 carrying an elastomeric bladder 7. The platen is moved downwards on rods 20 by an air cylinder 10 until close to the sheet resting on the plate 3, and is locked in position by a jaw 8, a sensing arm 5 actuating a microswitch 4 to open a valve 13 and inflate the bladder, which then exerts force on the sheet.
