710,977. Soldering-irons. SIEMENS SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES. Jan. 16, 1952 [April 30, 1951], No. 1324/52. [Class 83 (4) In a soldering appliance, the soldering member of which is excited into sonic or supersonic oscillations by a magnetostrictive oscillatory element, the oscillating element either oscillating a soldering bit or itself forming the soldering bit 1, the oscillating element forming the soldering bit 1 or the oscillating element and bit are hollow for the continuous passage of solder 3 to the operating end of the bit. The exciting winding may be dimensioned so that the heat generated by the oscillating element is sufficient to melt the solder and an additional heating device 4 is provided on the end of the bit 1. Means such as a spring may be provided to feed the solder to the end of the bit.
