Abstract

Soldering-irons.-In a gas-heated soldering-iron of the kind in which the bit is carried in a U-shaped holder attached to the gas-tube, with the burner projecting wholly or in part between the limbs of the holder, the holder is constructed so that it can be slid off the gastube without detaching any other parts, so as to convert the apparatus into an ordinary blowpipe. The U-shaped holder l, Fig. 1, which carries the bit m has a slotted bridge n, Fig. 5, so that it may be fitted over the reduced end h of the nozzle or mixing-chamber f, to which it is secured by a nut k. Gas is supplied to the tube a, which is provided with a handle b of non-conducting material such as fibre and into which the jet e is screwed. The nozzle is screwed on to the jet and is provided with holes for the supply of air.
