Abstract

Atmospheric gas and vapour burners; burners, applications of.-In a gas or vapour - heated soldering iron, the bit b and a cupshaped shield dare connected by a union o with a tube a of uniform bore containing a central gas or vapour supply tube i provided with a nipple l, air being drawn through the outer end of the tube a and thence through spaces between the nipple and the inner surface of the tube to mix with the gas or vapour in the forward portion of the tube prior to combustion in the chamber e in the bit. In the form shown, the nipple l has a square-shaped rear end m adapted to fit in the tube a and passes through a screw cap j provided with air inlets n. The tube a is kept cool by the air and may be used as a handle or provided with an aluminium or other metal handle c.
