Abstract
168,783. Webb, S. Sept. 13, 1920. Soldering-irons. - The iron shown in Fig. 3 has a chamber b in the bit and a hollow handle d which together can contain a commercial stick of solder. When molten, the solder issues from an orifice in the bit controlled by a valve i. The chamber in the handle is closed by a plug e connected by a spring f to a cap g fitting over the handle. If desired one or more additional chambers may be provided to contain a further supply of solder. Fig. 7 shows an iron with two additional chambers u. As shown in Fig. 5, a receptacle n containing a flux may be attached to the handle, the flux being delivered by a tube, provided with a wick q, in close proximity to the orifice in the bit, which is heated by a burner m.
