Abstract
181,042. Willmot, A. S. Sept. 29, 1921. Soldering-irons.-Relates to soldering-irons of the type having a reservoir for the solder which is kept in a molten condition by a gas-jet or an electric coil, and consists in ejecting the solder by means of air-pressure produced by a pump. Fig. 1 shows an iron, heated by gas, in which the pressure is provided by a collapsable-chamber pump 1. The products of combustion escape through an orifice 6 to heat the parts to be soldered. In a modification, the solder chamber is annular and surrounds the heating chamber, which may have a pair of orifices for the escape of the combustion products.
