Abstract

154,121. McNeill, R. March 30, 1920. Metal-heating furnaces.-An oil-fired furnace of the type in which air and liquid fuel are fed to the burner or burners under equal automatically adjusted pressures comprises an air chamber 11 with means for feeding air under pressure to it, a superimposed fuel chamber 10 formed in one with the air-chamber, and an air supply pipe 23 leading to. the burner 19 and having an orifice or orifices 26 opening into the fuel-chamber above the level of the fuel. The rivet-heating furnace shown comprises a tray 14 mounted above the oil reservoir and carrying a refractory hearth 15, together with an apertured top-plate 16. The burner is surrounded by a funnel-shaped casing 20 with apertures 21 for the supply of cooling air. The oil-pipe 22 enters within the air-pipe 23, the air passing up the space between them.
