Abstract

1,272,832. Vaporizing devices. W. EBERSPACHER and H. EBERSPACHER [trading as J. EBERSPACHER]. 19 May, 1969 [18 Oct., 1968], No. 26524/69. Heading F4T. In a liquid fuel burner, the fuel is vaporized by means of a hollow heat-conducting body extending through the combustion zone and containing a metallic braid e.g. of copper and a vaporizable liquid e.g. liquid sodium so that the temperature along the body is substantially uniform. In Fig. 1, the body comprises a double walled pipe 2 fed with fuel from a supply 5 and with air from a tube 7, the downstream end of the pipe 2 having fins 3 and opening to a flame nozzle 8. In modifications, (Figs. 2 and 4 (not shown)), the downstream end of the pipe 2 is connected to a finned flame tube (10), or liquid fuel is sprayed from a nozzle (24) into the pipe 2, which is axially spaced therefrom. In Fig. 3, the hollow body 20 is connected between a fuel vaporizing dish 15 and a flame spreader 19 which, together with a perforated cylinder 17, define a combustion chamber supplied with air from a duct 16.
