Abstract

588,216. Electric soldering-irons. MEYER, L. O. Feb. 6, 1945, No. 2944. [Class 39 (iii)] An electric soldering-iron comprises a bit B into the shank A of which is inserted the junction E of a thermo-couple, the leads F, G, from which are taken to terminals J, K, respectively, in the handle. A millivoltmeter type thermometer can be connected across the terminals J, K, or a voltage relay which can either operate a signal if overheating of the bit occurs, or automatically open the heating circuit. The heating element D is wound on a spool O surrounding the shank A.
