Abstract

707,975. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. May 21, 1951 [May 19, 1950], No. 12541/50. Class 39(1) A cathode ray tube is positioned in an optical system by an adjustable coupling device consisting of one member 16 fixed to the gun end of the tube and a second member 17 carrying a locating socket or as shown projection 24, the second member 17 being attached to the first member 16 so that the angular position of the centre of the screen end of the tube with respect to the optical system may be varied. The members 16, 17 contact over part spherical surfaces, so that the axis of the locating projection 24 attached to the member 17 is always in line with the centre of the screen end of the tube. The contacting surfaces may be flat where small adjustments only are called for. The members 16, 17 are provided with linear slots and are joined together by a bolt passing through the slots. On loosening the bolt the member 17 can be moved laterally with respect to the member 16 along either or both of two axes. The locating projection 24 carries a knurled knob 28 by means of which variations in the distance of the screen end of the tube from the optical system can be made. Specification 645,879 is referred to.
