598,511. Ellipsographs. HILLS, W. H. Oct. 31, 1945, No. 28918. [Class 97 (iii)] An instrument for drawing substantially elliptical curves comprises a beam 3 having at one end an adjustable throw crank 8 arranged to be rotated about a vertical axis by a knurled knob 9 and at the other end a horizontal guide 13, a rod 15 hinged at one end to the crank 8 and adapted to reciprocate at its other end in guide 13 and an adjustable stylus 16 on the rod 15. Locating points 5 are provided in the same plane as that containing the axes of the guide 13 and crank 8. The setting of the throw of the crank 8 can be determined in relation to scale 7 on the beam 3 and the bar 15 may carry a scale to position stylus 16.
