Abstract

591,691. Drawing instruments. ROBINS. T. H. May 4, 1945, No. 11332. [Class 97 (iii)] An instrument for use with a drawing board comprises a pivotally mounted straight edge having means for detachably retaining one of a group of scales, the divisions of which are related to the angle at which each scale is to be used. The scales may be retained by metal clips, screwed studs or in push fit grooves. In one form the scales 18 are attached to an adjustable set square having a graduated quadrant 14. In another form the straight edge 32 is pivotally mounted about a vanishing point 30 on a clamp on the drawing board and carries a perspective scale 42. This scale has diminishing divisions related to the angle of the line 27 against which it is to be used. Should the vanishing point lie beyond the drawing board, the correct angular motion is given to the straight edge by a carriage mounted on an arcuate lever. In a further form, a straight edge marked with a number of scales is mounted on a protractor which indicates its angle to the horizontal and the correct scale to be used.
