Abstract
676,639. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. June 26, 1950 [June 25, 1949], No. 16906/49. Class 39 (i). [Also in Group XL (b)] A television transmitting tube which may be of the kind having a main envelope 3 containing a target and having a window 7 in line with the target and a tubular extension 4 containing an electron gun for scanning the side of the target facing the window, the extension being disposed at an oblique angle to the normal to the target, is characterized by the provision of two sets of outward protrusions 14, 15 formed on the main envelope, the protrusions in each set being angularly spaced about an axis normal to the target and the sets being separated from each other along the axis. The tube mounting is provided with an annular locating surface 16 which co-operates with the protrusions 14 and three arcuate locating surfaces 17 co-operating with the protrusions 15. Spring fingers 19 engage a rim 20 on the tube and may serve to make an electrical connection to a lead brought out from the photo-cathode 8 to the exterior of the tube. A resilient pad 22 may be provided to press the window 7 against an annular stop 23 to hold the tube against axial displacement. The extension 4 of the tube is held in place by a clamp 25 having a part spherical seat 26 which rests on a part-spherical base 27 against which it is held by a clamping nut. The base 27 is adjustable in a slot in an arm 30 which is clamped to a circular face 31. Specification 442,666 is referred to.
