Abstract
565,274. Electron discharge apparatus. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Jan. 18, 1943, No. 913. Convention date, Jan. 16, 1942. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A contact for sealing into the wall of an electron discharge device, such as a cathoderay tube, comprises a cup-shaped member 9 which is sealed to the glass 1 by its rim and has a control projection 11 that does not extend beyond the level of the rim. The projection is attached by a base portion 13 to the member 9 leaving an annular zone 16 between the base and the envelope to prevent strains in the glass. The projection 11 may have a head 15 to co-operate with a resilient clip 17 mounted in an insulating body 18 with an annular positioning extension 19. Within the tube 1 the exposed surface of the member 9 is engaged by spring blades 10 attached to the deflection plates 7, 8 or other electrodes &c. to which connection is to be made. The contact can also be used to make connection to the conductive coating 20, being sealed into the envelope before the coating is applied so as to ensure intimate contact.
