Abstract
703,050. Automatic firearms; magazines. BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES SOC. ANON. June 13, 1952 [July 10, 1951], No. 15000/52. Class 92(2) Relates to magazine mountings of the kind in which projection and socket means 2, 3, at the front combine with a rear retractable bolt 5 to fix the magazine in position. According to the invention there is provided, ahead of the means 2, 3, a hooking system 7, 7a, 8, for supporting and guiding the magazine when it is pivoting, during the final period of its mounting movement, about a transverse axis where the projection and socket engage. By this arrangement the projection and socket are brought quickly into engagement. The magazine C shown has a T-shaped projection comprising a limb 7 and cross-pieces 7a, the limb fitting in a central slot of a forwardly inclined U-shaped socket 8. The latter is rigid with a magazine carrier G relatively to which the gun can recoil. When the magazine is hooked in position and is swung downwards as shown in Fig. 1, sloping faces 4a on rear projections 4 engage with and retract the bolt 5, such action serving to move the magazine slightly forwards to ensure full engagement of the parts 2, 3. The bolt, which then springs back to the locking position, may subsequently be released by a handle 6 when the magazine is to be removed.
